Inspired by how photography masters documented the society of their times, Brassard's commitment to learning was exemplified by his daily 9-hour bus commutes for over two years to work alongside these industry giants.

During his formative years in New York, Brassard had the rare opportunity to work with many prominent fashion photographers, including Anne Menke, Sante D'Orazio, Ben Lamberty, Bruce Weber, Russell James, and Indira Cesarine, among many other creatives. This period was marked by extensive travel and exposure to a diverse array of talented and beautifully creative souls, which significantly influenced his development and personal style as a photographer.

Brassard's career began tentatively but auspiciously with a commission to photograph the first female Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, for St. John Boutique.
