Move to New York and Early Career

 

In 2009, Brassard made a pivotal move to New York, driven by a burgeoning passion for photography. His first forays into the field were made during apprenticeships at the studios of renowned photographers Sante D'Orazio and Robert Farber. Inspired by how photography masters documented the society of their times, Brassard's commitment to learning was exemplified by his daily 9-hour bus commutes for over two years to work alongside these industry giants.

Collaborations and Growth

 

During his formative years in New York, Brassard had the rare opportunity to work with many prominent fashion photographers, including Anne Menke, Sante D'Orazio, Ben Lamberty, Bruce Weber, Russell James, and Indira Cesarine, among many other creatives. This period was marked by extensive travel and exposure to a diverse array of talented and beautifully creative souls, which significantly influenced his development and personal style as a photographer.

Career Milestones

 

Brassard's career began tentatively but auspiciously with a commission to photograph the first female Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, for St. John Boutique. This project was followed by numerous fashion editorials and campaigns for various magazines and news outlets around the world. His work quickly garnered attention, and his unique ability to capture the essence of his subjects became widely recognized.
